John Huston Autograph on Moulin Rouge Postcard. CoA - col8777

French colour postcard for promoting the movie “ Moulin Rouge “

Authentic autograph by the directors of the film Moulin Rouge.

The autograph is at the back of this 6 x 4 inch postcard. Fine condition.

In the years immediately preceding his death in 1987, John Huston's critical reputation as one of America's leading directors was reestablished with the twin success of "Prizzi's Honor" (1985) and "The Dead" (1987). But it is his earlier films, especially "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" (1948), "The African Queen" (1951) and "The Maltese Falcon" (1941) which will ultimately be responsible for Huston's place in film history as a teller of imaginative tales of enchantment, quest and loss.

The son of noted stage and screen actor Walter Huston (who would win an Oscar for his role in his son's "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre"), John Huston was a juvenile actor on the vaudeville circuit, a champion boxer, a painter, a leading man on the legitimate stage, a writer and reporter and even a lieutenant in the Mexican cavalry. After an abortive career as a screenwriter in the early 1930s, Huston returned to Hollywood later in the decade and achieved great renown with his contributions to six screenplays written under contract at Warner Bros., including "Jezebel" (1938), "High Sierra"">John Huston Autograph on Moulin Rouge Postcard. Dean Martin Autograph, CoA. 8 x 10 - col9075 @ rubylane

Dean Martin Autograph, CoA. 8 x 10 - col9075: "Dean Martin autograph: Beautiful b/w photo, 8 x 10 inches. Fine condition.

The autograph comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Dean Martin found phenomenal success in almost every entertainment venue and though he suffered a few down-times during his career, always managed to come out on top. During the '50s, he and partner Jerry Lewis formed one of the most popular comic film duos in filmdom. After splitting with Lewis, he was associated with the Hollywood's ultra-cool “ Rat Pack “ and came to be known as the chief deputy to the chairman of the board Frank Sinatra.

Though initially a comic actor, he proved himself a powerful dramatic actor in such dramas as Young Lions (1958), more than holding his own opposite Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift. He was also never above poking sly fun at his image as a smooth womanizer in such outings as the Matt Helm spy spoofs of the '60s. As a singer, Martin was by his own admission, not the greatest baritone on earth, and made no bones about having copied the styles of Bing Crosby and Perry Como."

Peter Cushing Autograph on Star Wars Photo, 5 x 8, CoA - col8145

Peter Cushing Autograph on Star Wars Photo, 5 x 8, CoA - col8145: "Peter Cushing Autograph and dedication on great b/w photo. The autograph comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Size: 5 in. x 8 inches. Fine condition.

In the early '50s, Cushing became a TV star by virtue of his performance in the BBC production of George Orwell's 1984. Still, film stardom would elude him until 1957, when he was cast as Baron Frankenstein in Hammer Films' The Curse of Frankenstein. It was the first of 19 appearances under the Hammer banner; Cushing went on to play Van Helsing in Horror of Dracula (1958) and Sherlock Holmes in The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959), roles which, like Baron Frankenstein, he would repeat time and again.

Though his horror film appearances brought him fame and fortune, Cushing ruefully commented that he'd prefer not to be so tightly typecast: It is significant that his entry in the British publication Who's Who in the Theatre lists all of his theatrical credits, but only one title -- Hamlet -- in his film manifest."
