Julie Driscoll Autograph from the early 70s. CoA - @ rubylane

Julie Driscoll Autograph from the early 70s. CoA - col8248: "Julie Driscoll from Brian Auger Trinity. Signed Marmalade postcard form the early 70s. ( The corners have been cut ) otherwise clean and fresh ).
Sixties pop diva-turned-avant jazz singer Julie Driscoll was born June 8, 1947 in London. As a teen she oversaw the Yardbirds' fan club.
In 1963 she issued her debut pop single 'Take Me by the Hand,' two years later joining the short-lived R&B combo Steampacket alongside Rod Stewart, Long John Baldry and organist Brian Auger.
After Steampacket dissolved, Driscoll signed on with the Brian Auger Trinity, scoring a Top Five UK hit in 1968 with their rendition of Bob Dylan's 'This Wheel's on Fire.' Dubbed 'The Face' by the British music press, Driscoll's striking looks and coolly sophisticated vocals earned her flavor of the month status, and she soon left Auger for a solo career.
Her debut solo album 1969 heralded a significant shift away from pop, however enlisting members of the Soft Machine and Blossom Toes to pursue a progressive jazz direction. Also contributing to the record was pianist Keith Tippett, whose avant garde ensembles Centipede and Ovary Lodge Driscoll soon joined. She and Tippett were later married, and she took her new husband's name, also recording as Julie Tippetts.

With her 1974 solo masterpiece Sunset Glow, she further explored improvisational vocal techniques in settings ranging from folk to free jazz. Two years later, Tippett joined with Maggie Nicols, Phil Minton and Brian Ely to form the experimental vocal quartet Voice, and in 1978 also collaborated with Nicols on the duo album Sweet and s'Ours.

Shirley Temple Black Autograph auf on card, signed with black pen „ Shirley Temple Black, 1990 „. At the left is a small photo of the young Shirley with a basket. In 1933, Shirley starred in an imitation Our Gang series called the Baby Burlesks, performing astonishingly accurate impressions of Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich. After a handful of minor roles she created a sensation by stopping the show with her rendition of “Baby Take a Bow “ in Fox's Stand Up and Cheer. She was promptly promoted to her own starring features, literally saving Fox (and its successor 20th Century Fox) from receivership, and earned a special Oscar in 1934 “ in grateful recognition to her outstanding contribution to screen entertainment.”

Diego Maradona (born 1960 in Argentine) is one of the most popular soccer players ever. “San Diego”, as his fans call him, took his team to new heights – and took sports paychecks to new heights too, claiming sums, higher than others dreamed before. Heroes can fall deep and so did Maradona who was cocaine addict.

In 1991 he was found positive in a dope test and was banned from football for 15 months.

Finally in 1994, after tow matches in the world cup and scores a great goal against Greece, he was banned for using ephedrine, a substance not allowed by FIFA.

Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Autograph on early Ross Postcard. CoA - col8149: "Young Douglas Fairbanks Jr. on b/w photo, issued by the German Ross Verlag.
Certificate of Authenticity. Corners slightly rounded otherwise fine.
American actor Douglas Fairbanks Jr. was the son of film star Douglas Fairbanks Sr. Fairbanks Jr. He made his acting debut in 1923's Stephen Steps Out. Before he was 20 he'd written an amusing article about the Hollywood scene for Vanity Fair magazine. In 1927, Fairbanks appeared in a stage play and in the early 1930s he married Joan Crawford.
Fairbanks had his best role in 1937's The Prisoner of Zenda, in which he was alternately charming and cold-blooded as the villainous Rupert of Hentzau. Upon his father's death in 1939, Fairbanks began to extend his activities into politics and service to his country. He helped to organize the Hollywood branch of the William Allen White Committee, designed to aid the allied cause in the European war. In 1942 he was chief officer of Special Operations, and in 1943 participated in the allied invasion of Sicily and Elba. Fairbanks worked his way up from Navy lieutenant to commander and finally, in 1954 to captain.
Fairbanks was back before the cameras in 1947 with Sinbad the Sailor. Out of films as an actor by 1951 (except for a welcome return in 1981's Ghost Story), Fairbanks concentrated on the production end for the next decade.
Fairbanks, Jr. died on May 7, 2000, of natural causes.

2 Amateur Racers Die in Crash at Speedway
The La Jolla men were driving the course during a club day at the Fontana racetrack.

By Martin Henderson, Times Staff Writer

Two San Diego County men died when the Porsche they were racing crashed and caught fire Thursday morning at California Speedway in Fontana, authorities said.

Benjamin Miles Keaton, 39, and his passenger, Corey Nicholas Rudl, 34, both of La Jolla, died from injuries after Keaton lost control of a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.

The car left the track, careened onto a grassy area and struck a barrier. The engine compartment then caught fire, according to a San Bernardino County sheriff's report.

On-site medical personnel, the same used for NASCAR and Indy Racing League events at the speedway, responded at 10:40 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire, sheriff's officials said.

Rudl, who worked in Internet marketing, was pronounced dead at the scene; Keaton was airlifted to Loma Linda University Hospital, where he died about an hour later, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

Both suffered multiple traumatic injuries, but neither suffered burns, said Supervising Deputy Coroner Randy Emon. The vehicle made a passenger-side impact at more than 100 mph. Both men were wearing helmets and safety belts, authorities said.

"The driver's side was in good shape, but the passenger side was obliterated," Emon said.

The accident occurred while the track was being rented by the San Diego chapter of the Ferrari Owners Club. Such events are common at the speedway; the facility is in use nearly 300 days a year for a variety of events, including track days by auto clubs and driving schools.

The men are the fourth and fifth fatalities at California Speedway since it opened in 1997.
